State Update for 3/12/20

With state competition 7 weeks ago and the uncertainties of the current COVID-19 virus, as a board, we felt it necessary to reach out to our membership and provide an update.  We are discussing state competition, the COVID-19 virus, and alternative plans should they be necessary, this Thursday morning and meeting in Boise on Friday at the NWATA conference.

  • We are receiving updates from the Spokane Convention Center, following Spokane hospital and school district updates, monitoring recommendations from the Governor, and the Washington State Department of Health recommendations.

  • We are aware school districts are placing restrictions on field trips and schools may be hesitant to register for state competition by Friday, March 13th.  If you are concerned, please reach out to Larry directly at executivedirector.wctsmabod@gmail.com and we will do our best to work with schools given the circumstances.

  • Should a live event not be feasible, we are exploring alternative options

  • We will evaluate refunds/cancellation policies as we work through possibilities and contract obligations

This is unprecedented and something the board cannot clearly plan for due to the volatility of our state and the virus.  We will continue to monitor COVID-19 and communicate with our members as we have more information.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.
