Time to start signing up and paying for the 2017-2018 school year. Don't forget to register all your students and all your instructors. We also need you to give us the name of all your students to report to OSPI to ensure we maintain funding. Sign up before November 1st to avoid the $100 late fee. There is an online OR a print out form for your convenience.

State Officers Kick-Off Tour of Duty at Summer Leadership

WCTSMA State Officers led their first leadership event at Summer Leadership August 2, 2017 at Kayak Point Park in Stanwood, WA. Sunny skies welcomed the small but enthusiastic group at the beach. Leadership activities and games filled the day's schedule. WCTSMA Advisory Board members provided BBQ skills for the hungry campers. What a great event to start the 2017-18 year.

WCTSMA Shows Well At Nationals

WCTSMA schools did an outstanding job at the AACI National Sports Medicine Competition that concluded June 1.  Issaquah continued their streak of three consecutive national championships winning the Cramer Division (large school division) and the overall (all divisions) national title.  They also had a new record of thirteen All-American (top 25) students, including seven in the top 10.  Jessica Hart was the individual Cramer Division national champion and Jessica Gallawa placed 3rd for Issaquah.  Wenatchee placed 4th in the Cramer Division and 5th overall.  Grant Kolde placed 4th for Wenatchee.

 

Auburn Mountainview placed 2nd and Mt. Vernon 3rd in the Jaybird Division (medium school division).  Kent-Meridian, Auburn, Olympic, and North Kitsap also placed in the Jaybird Division top 10. Individually, William Douglass of Kent Meridian was the national champion in the Jaybird Division.  Washington schools swept the top 4 with Simar Virk of Auburn Mountainview placing 2nd, Olivia Farrell of Mt. Vernon placing 3rd, and Kayla Underbrink of Mt. Si placing 4th.

 

East Valley (Yakima) and Spokane Valley Tech placed 4th and 5th respectively in the Alert Division (small schools division).  Avery Austin (4th) and Seth Valenzuela (8th) both of East Valley placed in the top 10 of the Alert Division.

State Student Officer Training

We had a great time at Warm Beach this week working with the new Student Board for next year. Plans are well under way for Summer Leadership, Winter Leadership, and plans for the Spring Symposium and Competition are moving forward as well.  These students spent three days in leadership training classes as well as board meetings to learn how to work together to best serve the WCTSMA. Stay turned for more information about these great events planned for this year.
