2020 WIAA Coaches School reaches many virtually

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 WIAA Coaches School was forced to go virtual this year. Thanks to Julie Leslie and Jake Howell, WCTSMA was well represented via this webinar presentation. Sam Brown at WIAA has been a great partner for WCTSMA as usual. We look forward to returning in 2021 for first aid and CPR training of coaches in Yakima. Check out Jake and Julie’s Concussion and SCA presentation here.

WCTSMA as usual makes great showing at Nationals!

National results are in!

As usual, WCTSMA made a great showing at Nationals.

In the intermediate schools division, WCTSMA took 6 of the top 10 positions in the category. Monroe was 10th followed by Ferndale 9th, North Kitsap 8th, Auburn 7th, and Auburn Mountview 6th. Mt. Spokane surged to Number 2 in the division and 2nd overall Nationally for all schools.

In the large school division the battle for supremacy continues between Kent Meridian and Wenatchee. Kent Meridian finished just behind Wenatchee in 3 place in the division with the Panthers finishing 2nd. Valencia High School topped the division in 1st.

The icing on the cake was Mt. Spokane finishing just ahead of Valencia for 2nd overall Nationally. Way to go WCTSMA! You represent Washington well.

Kent Meridian and Mt. Spokane finish 1st and 4th in California Regional Competition

AACI, Saint Francis HS, and California State Northridge were set to host the 2020 California High School Sports Medicine Competition March 21st. Due to COVID-19, the test was administered online in student homes throughout the country.

Kent Meridian won the small school category. All 11 K-M students finished in the top 50 for scoring. Phoebe C. finished 3rd in the intermediate sports medicine division. State Officer Hamdia A. finished 6th and Karl A. finished 2nd in the advanced division. Stacie V finished 5th in medical terminology.

Mt Spokane finished 4th overall in the small school category behind K-M. 9 students competed online with 2 finishing in the top 10 in their categories. Jon H. finished 5th in intermediate sports medicine. 2020-21 State Officer candidate, Zeke M. finished 8th. Abigail W. from Mt. Spokane won the small school category for medical terminology.

Great job Kent Meridian and Mt. Spokane in representing WCTSMA in California! Watch the website as Mt. Spokane is planning to participate in the National Competition. I did not get clarification on K-M, but I am almost certain they will be competing in Nationals also.

Remember, due to COVID-19 and canceling of our State event, Nationals is open to ALL Washington schools interested in challenging for National honors. Please see the link on this home page to register. You can always contact me with questions regarding the National event also.
